This week AASTMT Ignites Innovation in Alexandria. We are thrilled to announce a landmark achievement for the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). From September 1 to 8, 2024, AASTMT will proudly host the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), one of the world’s most prestigious programming competitions! This remarkable event will be held under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
What is the IOI?
The International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) is a premier annual event that attracts the brightest young minds in computer science from around the globe. Established in 1989, the IOI challenges participants with complex problems designed to test their programming skills and problem-solving abilities. Ranked as the second largest science olympiad after the International Mathematical Olympiad, the IOI is renowned for its scale and significance. At the 2022 event, 88 countries participated, each sending a team of up to four students, a team leader, a deputy leader, and additional guests. The IOI is a crucial platform for nurturing innovation and excellence among the next generation of tech leaders.

With over 50 years of achievements in education, training, and research, AASTMT has transitioned from a regional institution to an internationally recognized leader.
